ANGER

I get angry about

Trump not going to jail

He tried to build a wall

between Mexico and

the United States

You don’t get to be mean

just because you’re the President

I wish I could send Trump

to space without a spacesuit

Or make him sit in jail

for three years

without a visitor

except his children

Aria Scarlett Weissman

Ella Baker, 1st Grade

MAGNETS

They move

They stick

They are great

Magnets are sweet doughnuts

Magnets are a dark tunnel

Magnets are a bright moon

Magnets are a glowing sun

Magnets are the spinning earth

Magnets can spin if you line them up right

But sometimes they stick tight!

In my eyes I am the sky

Lillian Pisano

I AM

I’m bored and hungry

It happens every day
I try to focus...
but I can’t get it out of my way.
I want to read a book,
It takes me to my imagination
And that’s my game
I want to see my cousins
It’s hard to get away but maybe it’s too late I hope it’s not too late.

Sayaloki Javier Liu

MOON

Under the big white moon

with no stars in the sky

MY PLACE

Sometimes I wonder,

What is my place
Could it be my house,
Or inside me
Could I even have a place?

Maybe I do

A MIND THAT GOES TO A THOUSAND PLACES

My mind goes

to a thousand places.

It goes to the trees,

the sea,

and the last place

I put my phone, too.

It goes to the laughter

of the amusement park

and the sadness of

a funeral.

My mind goes to the

great wall of china

and to the Leaning

Tower of Pisa.

It goes to the

dreamers and the

artists and the

craziest part?

It goes to all of

these places at once.

because I have ADHD!

ROLLER COASTER

When I go on a roller coaster at Coney Island,

I feel the wind blow through my hair.
As I go through the air

The breeze treats me quite fair.

I felt like it was a dare

Last off I ride without a care.

WHATEVER YOU’RE GOING THROUGH

Hey, whatever you’re going through, you’ll get through

I recently lost my relative

You know that cut deep

Imagine you waking up, knowing that your family member is six feet deep

I know I made them happy when I first said my first 1, 2, 3

I know she’s in heaven looking down on me ):

FREEDOM FLIES

Freedom flies, with all the lies

Freedom flies, with all the cries

Freedom flies, with all the signs

When I lie freedom flies

When I sigh freedom flies

We lie, cry, and sigh

But it won’t change that freedom flies

And freedom is always on our side

LIGHT

Light dances on a pine

And flies around the chimney

It dives into a stream

And flows through the deep

It ascends beyond the air

And back to the aquamarine

ALL I WANNA DO

All I wanna do is play ball

I mostly run in the hall

I was short, but now I’m kinda tall

My legs are pretty long

When I run, I sometimes fall

It just happens to me

I’m 13 with Big Feet

I wear a size 12 ½ and I’m about to be size 13

MOTHER

You are the sunlight to my day and the moon I see far away

A beautiful woman from all angels

A woman I am proud to call Mom

The woman who has made me into who I am today

The woman who I know will always be by my side

You are the sunlight to my day and the moon I see far away

BE YOURSELF

Be strong enough to face the world each day

Be loving to those who love you

Be bright as the sun

And as the night bleeds into the morning,

And as the sun dissolves the moon,

You find yourself,

And be who you are meant to be,

And born to be

And remember, you are YOU.

HOW TO DRINK THE MILKY WAY

Climb up into space

Drink one sweet planet at a time

Then the stars

Don’t forget the earth.

Slurp it all up,

And don’t stop until it’s done.

Don’t spill a bit.

Finish it.

You are big enough to hold the world.

Smell the nice, warm smell of cookies,

And eat the other delicious galaxies.

Sinan Erogul

PS 321, 4th Grade

OCEAN, WHOA BIG

Salt creeping through its veins

carrying sailors along

petting animals in the deep

seaweed floating on top

arms stretching across the earth

crushing boats with no mercy

strength beyond count

Waves crashing on the beaches

always getting taller, flip side not like

calm waves, they’re smaller

not controllable

never outsourced

The great waters of blue

like a carpet on the crust

riders going at their own risk

made traveling a lot harder

running water gushing throughout the world

evaporates comes back down and refills

The great waters of blue

like a carpet on the crust

riders going at their own risk

made traveling a lot harder

Great

IT’S A STORM!

Let your lightning descend from the

endless dark sky. Pour down rain like

icy nails. Scream down with howling

winds. Let thunder rumble the sky like

drums. Turn picnics to mush. Flood the

streets and demand raincoats. Turn

the sky menacing gray from a cloudless blue.

Beat down on enormous trees with powerful winds.

Dance through the sky. What’s that? Boom, Boom, Crash!

It’s a storm!

Logan Guinyard

PS 321, 4th Grade

THE CLOAKED NINJA

From dusk to dawn

is where he belongs.

A wolf in the night

always looking for a fight.

The claws of a lion

he knows when you’re lying.

A campfire that lights up the street,

if you approach him you will feel weak.

Oliver Hall

PS 321, 4th Grade

HOW TO RIDE A DRAGON

No need for a seatbelt.

Burn straight through the trees kissing the clouds.

Run along its hard solid back.

Touch the bright beaming sunlight.

Pick food out of volcano high trees.

And when the sky is a ripe peach ready

to be eaten,

when you’re tired,

lay on your dragon’s back and he will take

you to the magical land of dreams.

HOW TO SEE A FAIRY

See that flower in the garden?

Look.

See that door?

Yes.

Don’t blink, or else it will disappear.

Feel its rough wood.

Tug on the silver knocker.

But the door will not open.

It is determined to be closed.

Unless you taste the green grass.

Hear the vines chatter away.

Feel the bumblebees.

Look at the colorful plants

and the heaving ocean

and the waving trees

and the crackling fire

and the glittering stars

and the beautiful creatures

and the interesting people

and the good

and the evil

and the whole wide world, incessantly spinning.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Close your eyes gently.

Open them.

Do you see the fairy?

This is an invitation not to be ignored.

Accept it.

MR. TELEKINESIS, THE VILLAIN!!!

Ashes, ashes

Is child’s play

In fact not much is hard…

To MR. TELEKINESIS!!!

Hotter than a toaster,

Faster than a fly,

You won’t see him coming

Because you will die.

Ezra Pressman

HOW TO FLY!

Soar up,

don’t look down. Fly and don’t think about the ground.

Without thinking

just bounce on the white fluffy clouds

and if you wonder “what if I fall”

well what if you fly

and if you do fall I will catch you. When you fly

you’ll soar into space. The sun will burn you like Florida and

you’ll circle around the gold stars that shine with fire.

You’ll touch the brightest moon but don’t fly

higher.

I AM FIRE

Run, Spread, Burst into flames

The old tree waves goodbye, burning

People run

and schools burn

I hear sirens begging me to stop

My embers sparkle as the

Wind howled and the

Lightning roared

I smelled the rain coming down

the dark gray sky

I vanished
